Typanotes Privacy Policy
Typanotes by Typalock, operated by Lokd Technologies Ltd.
Effective date: September 24, 2026. Last updated: September 28, 2026.
Our commitment to your privacy
Typanotes (also shown as "Typanotes by Typalock") is operated by Lokd Technologies Ltd., a corporation registered in Nova Scotia and federally in Canada ("Lokd", "we", "us", "our"). Lokd also makes Typalock and Saidee. Typanotes is an iPhone app for university students: it records your classes, transcribes them on your phone, and turns them into structured notes, cue cards and answers you can search.
This policy explains what information we collect, what stays on your phone, how we use what we collect, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the Typanotes iOS app, the website at typalock.com/typanotes, and the backend services that support them (together, the "Service").
We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada and, where they apply to you, provincial private-sector privacy laws such as Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
The short version
- Transcription happens on your iPhone. Your audio is never sent to an AI company.
- Your recordings are backed up to your private Typanotes storage in Canada so you can replay them, and the audio is deleted automatically after your retention period (90 days after the transcript exists, unless you choose a different period).
- To write notes, cue cards and Tutor answers, we send transcript text (never audio) to Anthropic, and text for search to Voyage AI, but only after you allow it on a consent screen that says what is sent and links to this policy, which names them. If you say no, recording and transcripts still work; notes, cue cards and the Tutor do not.
- Lectures capture other people: your instructors and classmates. You are responsible for following your school's rules on recording and sharing. We give you the controls to delete what you record.
- Nothing you record is shared with another person unless you choose to: by recording a class for a friend who asked you, or by sharing a course with a classmate.
- We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, the app contains no analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not use your recordings, transcripts or notes to train AI models.
- You can export your data and delete your account from inside the app.
Information we collect
We collect only what the Service needs to work.
- Account data. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your email address (which may be an Apple "Hide My Email" relay address), your name if you choose to share it, the account identifier Apple or Google assigns to you, and, from Google, the link to your profile photo. With Sign in with Apple we also receive a one-time authorization code, which we exchange for an Apple token that we store encrypted so that we can revoke Sign in with Apple when you delete your account. When you first continue with Apple or Google, the screen says that continuing confirms you are 16 or older and agree to our Terms and this policy; we record the date, that you confirmed your age, and which version of the Terms you accepted. We also store the settings you choose: your time zone, your audio retention period, whether uploads may use cellular data, the name you give your Tutor, your appearance preference (on your phone only), and your term dates.
- Recordings (audio). When you record a class, or import an audio file, the audio is saved on your phone in five-minute pieces and uploaded to your private storage in your Typanotes account so you can replay it and jump to the moment something was said. Each piece stays on your phone for up to 14 days after it has uploaded, then is removed from the phone. If a class ends while your phone has no connection, the end of the recording and its transcript are kept on the phone until they reach your account.
- Transcripts. Your iPhone turns the audio into text using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The transcript text, with word timings and anonymous speaker labels (for example "lecturer" or "audience"), is stored in your account. We do not build voice profiles and we do not identify who is speaking.
- Notes, cue cards and other AI output. The notes, summaries, key concepts, exam flags, deadlines, syllabus changes heard in class, cue cards and Tutor answers that are generated for you, plus your cue-card study history (how you rated each card and when it is next due).
- Tutor conversations. The questions you type or dictate to your Tutor, the answers, which sessions were used as sources, and a running summary of each conversation. Voice questions are transcribed on your phone; only the text is sent.
- Syllabi. When you add a syllabus from a PDF, a photo or pasted text, your phone extracts the text. Only the text is uploaded; the PDF or photo itself is not. We keep each version you add, the structured version we build from it (course details, grading, weekly schedule, assessments, policies), and what changed between versions.
- Courses and class schedule. Your courses, sections, class sessions, attendance state (recorded, missed, cancelled), week numbers and term dates.
- Calendar data (only if you connect a calendar). See "Calendars" below for exactly what is read and copied.
- Friend requests. If you ask a friend to record a class, or record one for a friend, we store the request: the course code and title, class times and location, the display names of both of you, its status, and any report you file. See "Sharing with other Typanotes users".
- Referral data. Your invite code (four letters, which may come from your name, and four numbers), the referrals you made, whose code you used if you joined through a friend, the free months you earned, when you claimed each and how it was applied, and the dates the app suggested inviting a friend (so it does so at most three times a year). To stop one person inviting themselves, the app creates a random identifier for your installation, keeps it in your phone's Keychain, and sends us only a one-way SHA-256 hash of it when you sign in and when you use a code.
- Subscription data. Purchases are processed by Apple. We never receive your card number. Through RevenueCat we receive your plan, product, whether you are in a free trial, renewal and expiry dates, refund status and a transaction identifier. RevenueCat knows your account by our internal user ID, not by your name or email.
- Usage counters. Minutes recorded this month, audio imports, Tutor questions asked and cue-card decks made, so that we can apply your plan's limits.
- Consent and choice records. When you accept the recording-policy statement, allow or withdraw AI processing, change your retention period, or delete a term's audio, we keep a dated record of that choice.
- Live Activity token. The app no longer collects the push token iOS offers for the recording Live Activity. [NOTE TO OWNER: tokens stored by earlier test builds are still in the database; delete them, then remove this note.]
- Technical and log data. When the app talks to our servers, our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic request information (time, device and app version). Our server functions keep operational logs made of internal identifiers, counts and error messages, not the content of your recordings or notes. We use this only to run, secure and fix the Service.
- Messages you send us. If you email support, we keep your email and our reply.
Device permissions. The app asks for these iOS permissions, and you can change any of them in iOS Settings:
- Microphone, to record classes and to dictate questions to your Tutor.
- Speech Recognition, to transcribe on your phone.
- Calendars (full access), only if you choose "Use my iPhone calendars".
- Notifications, for the reminder before class, reminders before deadlines, and the notice before a paused recording ends.
- Screen Time, only in versions of the app that include Class focus, and only if you turn it on.
The app does not ask for your location, contacts, photo library or camera. When you pick a syllabus photo or an audio file, you choose it through the system file picker and only that file is opened.
What stays on your phone
Some processing happens only on your iPhone and is never sent to us:
- Speech-to-text. Apple's on-device speech recognition transcribes your lectures and your dictated questions.
- Syllabus text extraction. Text is read from PDFs and photos on the phone; only the text leaves it.
- Class focus (when available). If your version of the app includes Class focus and you turn it on, the apps and categories you choose to block are selected in Apple's Screen Time picker. Apple gives the app only opaque tokens for them. We never learn which apps you chose, and the tokens and focus schedule stay on your phone.
- Class detection for iPhone calendars. Which of your recurring events are classes is worked out on the phone; only those are uploaded (see "Calendars").
- Your other calendar events on the Schedule. Events that are not classes are read on the phone to show your day and are not copied to your account, unless you record one (see "Calendars").
- Your appearance setting, the files queued for upload, and the end of a recording that has not reached your account yet.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service: record, back up and replay your classes; show transcripts; generate notes, cue cards, syllabus summaries and Tutor answers; find your classes in your calendar; remind you before class; search your transcripts.
- To run your subscription, apply plan limits, and run the referral and friend-request programs, including preventing abuse of them.
- To keep the Service secure and reliable, investigate reports, and fix problems.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your recordings, transcripts, notes, syllabi or Tutor conversations to train AI models, ours or anyone else's, and we do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not build advertising profiles. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Third-party AI processing and your consent
Notes, cue cards, syllabus parsing and the Tutor use cloud AI. Before any of your transcripts or other text is sent to an AI provider, the app shows a screen titled "Notes and answers use cloud AI" that says the text of your transcripts, notes, syllabi and Tutor questions is sent to third-party AI providers and your audio is not, links to this policy, and asks you to tap Allow. The providers are Anthropic (notes, cue cards and your Tutor) and Voyage AI (search embeddings). The app asks at the moment a feature needs it, and once after setup. You can tap "Not now". Our servers check for your consent before every notes, cue-card and syllabus job and before every Tutor question, and do nothing with these providers without it.
What we send, and only for your own request:
- To Anthropic: the text of a lecture transcript, the course code and title, the session date and the times you paused recording, and the relevant week of your syllabus, to write that lecture's notes; the text of your notes, to make cue cards; the text of a syllabus you added, to structure it; and, for the Tutor, your question, the Tutor name you chose, excerpts from your transcripts, notes and syllabus that match the question, and a short summary of the conversation so far.
- To Voyage AI: short passages of your transcripts, notes and syllabi, and the text of your Tutor questions, to turn them into numerical "embeddings" that power search. The embeddings are stored in your account.
We use both providers under their commercial API terms. Anthropic's commercial terms do not permit it to train its models on the content we send through its API; Anthropic keeps inputs and outputs only for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring and then deletes them [CONFIRM CURRENT ANTHROPIC API RETENTION PERIOD, 30 DAYS AT THE TIME OF DRAFTING]. For Voyage AI, [CONFIRM: we have opted out of Voyage AI's use of API data for model training, and state Voyage's retention period]. Both providers process data in the United States.
If you say no, or later withdraw consent, the recorder, on-device transcripts, audio replay, your schedule and your library keep working. Notes, cue cards, syllabus parsing and the Tutor stop. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app under Toolbox, Settings, Privacy and consent, Withdraw consent. If your phone cannot reach us at that moment, the app keeps the withdrawal, stops asking for anything that needs cloud AI, and sends it as soon as it can; until it arrives our servers still have your earlier consent. Withdrawing stops new processing; it does not recall text that was already processed, which the providers delete on their own schedules described above. To remove the notes, embeddings and other results already stored in your account, see "Deleting your data and your account".
One exception to note: if a friend records a class for you, the notes and search embeddings for that class are produced from your friend's recording under your friend's consent, and the search embeddings for your copy are created when it is delivered to you.
We do not currently send audio to any cloud transcription service. If we ever offer cloud transcription, we will ask for your consent again, naming the provider, before any audio is sent to it.
Service providers
We use a small set of providers to run Typanotes. Each receives only what it needs for its function.
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase (on Amazon Web Services) | Database, sign-in sessions, file storage for your recordings, server functions and scheduled jobs | Everything stored in your account, including your audio, transcripts, notes, calendar copy and settings | Database, authentication and file storage: Canada (AWS ca-central-1, Montreal). Server functions may run in other regions [CONFIRM REGION PINNING] |
| Anthropic | Writes notes, cue cards, syllabus structure and Tutor answers | Transcript text, notes, syllabus text, Tutor questions and the context listed above. Never audio. Only after your consent | United States |
| Voyage AI | Creates search embeddings | Passages of transcripts, notes and syllabi, and Tutor questions. Never audio. Only after your consent | United States |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and subscriptions, on-device speech recognition, calendars on your iPhone, notifications, Live Activities, Screen Time | Sign-in: your Apple account details as Apple provides them. Purchases: handled entirely by Apple. When you delete your account we ask Apple to revoke Sign in with Apple | Apple's own infrastructure (United States and elsewhere) |
| RevenueCat | Checks and records your subscription status and delivers referral rewards | Your internal Typanotes user ID, your App Store purchase and subscription records, and basic device and app information from its software kit. Not your name or email | United States |
| Google (only if you use it) | Sign in with Google; Google Calendar, if you connect it directly | Sign-in: your Google account details as Google provides them. Calendar: we request read-only access and read your calendars through Google's API | Google's own infrastructure (United States and elsewhere) |
We do not use any analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting company in the app.
Other people in your recordings
A lecture recording captures your instructor and anyone else who speaks: classmates asking questions, guest speakers, teaching assistants. Their voices, and anything they say, end up in your audio, your transcript and possibly your notes.
- Your school's rules come first. Most universities allow students to record a class only with the instructor's permission or an approved accommodation plan, and many do not allow a recording, or a transcript of one, to be shared with anyone, including classmates, without the instructor's written permission. You are responsible for knowing and following your institution's recording, sharing and academic-integrity policies, and for getting any permission they require. Before your first recording the app asks you to confirm that you have permission to record and will follow your school's rules on sharing. Typanotes does not check whether you have permission and cannot tell whether a recording is allowed.
- You control what is kept. You can delete the audio of any class (see "Deleting your data and your account"), the app offers to delete a term's audio once your term has ended, audio is deleted automatically after your retention period, and after you record a class for a friend you can remove your own copy.
- We do not identify speakers. Speaker labels are anonymous and limited to one recording. We do not create voiceprints.
- People who are not users. If you were recorded by a Typanotes user and want something removed, write to us at the address at the end of this policy. We will pass the request to the account holder and, where the law requires it, act on it ourselves.
Sharing with other Typanotes users
Nothing you record is visible to another person unless you do one of the following.
Friend requests (friend notes). A student can ask a friend to record one specific class for them by sending a link or a code.
- If you ask, your friend sees your display name and the course code, title, section, time and location of that class. When your friend's notes are ready, you receive your own copy of that class's audio, transcript and notes, labelled with your friend's name. Your copy is yours: it stays in your account under your retention settings, and it stays even if your friend removes their copy or deletes their account.
- If you record for a friend, the person who asked sees your display name, and when your notes for that class are ready, a copy of that one recording's audio, transcript and notes is placed in their account. This happens automatically unless you turned on "review before sending" when you accepted, in which case nothing is sent until you tap Send. After it is sent you can keep or remove your own copy. Removing yours does not remove theirs, and we cannot take back a copy once it is delivered.
- The link preview shows no names or class details. A link works for one person only and expires at the earlier of the class start and 7 days.
- Either of you can report or block the other. A report records the reason you give; we review reports and may contact the people involved or restrict an account.
Sharing a recording or transcript with another student is exactly what many schools' recording policies prohibit without written permission. Check your school's rules before you ask or accept.
Sharing a course with a classmate (when available). If your version of the app lets you share a course and you choose to, the classmate you share it with receives a copy of that course's syllabus, assessments and class times. Your recordings, transcripts, notes and Tutor conversations are not shared this way.
Referrals. If you use a friend's invite code, your friend can see that someone they invited joined and whether that referral has counted toward a free month. They do not see your name, email or payment details from us.
Adding a class to your calendar. When you accept a friend request for a class you do not have, the app can open Apple's standard "add event" screen so you can save it to a calendar you pick. Nothing is saved unless you tap Add. The app can also offer to add your course deadlines and other class dates to a separate "Typanotes" calendar on your iPhone. That is optional and off unless you turn it on; the app then writes only to that calendar, and turning the setting off removes the calendar and the events it wrote.
Calendars
Connecting a calendar is optional. The app works without one; you can add classes by hand.
iPhone calendars (Apple EventKit). If you choose "Use my iPhone calendars", iOS asks for full calendar access. The app then reads events from the calendars you leave switched on in the app's calendar picker (all of them, until you switch some off), for a rolling window from 30 days ago to 90 days ahead, and works out on the phone which repeating events are classes. Only those are copied to your account: a repeating event is uploaded when it is part of a class you confirmed or its title reads as a class, with its title, location, start and end times, time zone, recurrence and calendar identifiers. One-off events are never uploaded for being in your calendar, and an event's notes never leave the phone. The Schedule also shows your other events from those calendars; they are read on the phone to draw your day and are not copied. If you record one of them, the recording is saved like any other recording, with the event's title and its start and end times as the recording's name and time. The app also stores the name and colour of each calendar you use. No calendar password or token is stored on our servers. Turning a calendar off in the picker, or choosing "Stop using iPhone calendars", stops reading it; stopping deletes the copied calendar data from your account.
Google Calendar (optional direct connection). If you connect Google Calendar directly, we request two read-only permissions, "See and download any calendar you can access using your Google Calendar" and "View events on all your calendars". We store Google's access and refresh tokens encrypted (AES-256-GCM), read your calendar list, and copy the events that read as classes (title, location, meeting link, times, recurrence, your response and status; never the description) from the calendars you leave on, from 30 days ago to six months ahead. We ask Google to notify us when a calendar changes so your schedule stays current. Disconnecting revokes our access at Google and deletes the copied data.
Typanotes does not change or delete events in any calendar.
Limited Use of Google user data
Typanotes' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, we do not:
- use Google user data for serving advertisements;
- allow humans to read this data, unless (a) we have your affirmative consent for specific data, (b) it is necessary for security purposes (for example, investigating abuse), (c) it is required to comply with applicable law, or (d) the data is aggregated and anonymized and used for internal operations;
- use or transfer Google user data for purposes other than providing or improving Typanotes' schedule and class features; or
- sell Google user data.
Google user data, raw, aggregated, anonymized or derived, is never used to create, train or improve any foundational or generalized machine learning or artificial intelligence model, whether our own or a third party's. Course names that come from your calendar can appear in the context sent to Anthropic to write your own notes or answer your own question; that happens only to serve your request in that moment, under terms that do not permit the provider to train on it.
Where your data is stored, and cross-border transfers
Your account database, sign-in service and file storage, including your audio, are hosted by Supabase in Canada (AWS ca-central-1). Some of our providers are in the United States: Anthropic and Voyage AI (the text described above, only after your consent), RevenueCat (subscription records), and Apple and Google for their own services. When data is processed outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We use contractual and technical measures to give it a comparable level of protection. By using the Service, you acknowledge these transfers.
How we keep your data safe
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256) by our hosting provider. Google Calendar tokens and your Apple token are additionally encrypted by us before they are stored.
- Every table in our database is protected by row-level security, so each account can read only its own rows. Audio is in a private storage bucket that only your account can read, through links that expire.
- Keys that bypass those protections are used only inside our server functions, never in the app.
- Access to production systems is limited to people who need it to run the Service.
- If we experience a breach of security safeguards that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and affected users as soon as feasible, as PIPEDA requires, and keep a record of every breach for at least 24 months.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed without authorization.
How long we keep your data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Audio of your recordings (in your account) | Deleted automatically after your retention period, counted from when the recording's transcript is complete, or from when the recording ended if it never gets a complete transcript. The default is 90 days; you can choose 30 days, 90 days, 180 days or 1 year in Toolbox, Settings, App settings. You can delete audio sooner at any time |
| Audio pieces on your phone | Up to 14 days after each piece uploads. Pieces that have not uploaded stay on the phone when you sign out and upload when you sign back in; deleting your account removes them |
| The end of a recording kept on your phone | Until it reaches your account, at most 14 days |
| Transcripts | Until you delete the transcript, the class's course or your account. Deleting a recording's audio, by hand or automatically, does not delete the transcript |
| Notes, cue cards, syllabi, search embeddings, Tutor conversations, courses and schedule | Until you delete them (where the app offers it), ask us to, or delete your account |
| Calendar copies | A rolling window (30 days back); removed when you disconnect the calendar or delete your account |
| Friend requests | Until the requester deletes their account. A copy delivered to someone else is theirs and stays in their account |
| Consent and choice records | For the life of your account |
| Referral records | For the life of the inviter's account. If you joined with a friend's code and delete your account, a referral that has already counted toward your friend's free month stays in their records with your identity removed |
| Failed friend-request code attempts | 1 day |
| Background job records | 14 days after the job finishes |
| Daily operational summaries (counts of failed background jobs, and reports filed on friend requests and shared courses with the reason given) | [CONFIRM RETENTION FOR OPS DIGESTS] |
| Server logs | Up to [CONFIRM LOG RETENTION, 7 DAYS ON THE SUPABASE PRO PLAN] |
| Database backups | Deleted data can remain in our hosting provider's backups for up to [CONFIRM BACKUP WINDOW, 7 DAYS ON THE SUPABASE PRO PLAN] until they expire |
| Anthropic and Voyage AI | As described in "Third-party AI processing" |
| Support emails | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
Deleting your data and your account
Inside the app you can:
- Delete a recording's audio: open the class in your Library and choose "Delete recording audio". This deletes the audio from our storage and the copies on your phone. The transcript, notes and search index stay.
- Delete a term's audio: when your term end date has passed, the app offers "Delete term audio", which does the same for every recording that still has audio.
- Delete a class's transcript or notes from the class's menu.
- Delete a whole course with its classes, recordings and audio, transcripts, notes, search index, syllabi, assessments, deadlines and shares.
- Delete a Tutor conversation, a cue-card deck, or any syllabus version.
- Remove your copy of a class you recorded for a friend.
- Change your audio retention period.
- Withdraw AI consent, disconnect calendars, and turn permissions off in iOS Settings.
- Delete your account: Toolbox, Settings, Account, Delete account.
To delete anything else, email us and we will delete it within 30 days.
When you sign out, the app removes this account's reminders, the Typanotes calendar it wrote, links you opened but had not used, and its Google sign-in from the phone. Parts of lectures that have not uploaded stay on the phone for your account.
When you delete your account, the deletion runs immediately, with no waiting period, in this order: we revoke Sign in with Apple with Apple, revoke our Google Calendar access with Google and stop calendar notifications, sign you out on every device, delete every file in your storage (audio and course materials), delete your subscriber record at RevenueCat, close any friend request you were recording for that had not been delivered, and then delete your account, which deletes every row that belongs to it: profile, courses, schedule, recordings, transcripts, notes, embeddings, cue cards, syllabi, Tutor conversations, calendar copies, consent records, referral code and device records. Deletion cannot be undone.
What remains afterwards:
- A deletion receipt holding a one-way hash of your account ID, the date, the number of files removed and whether the Apple and RevenueCat steps succeeded, so that we can show the deletion happened. It contains nothing that identifies you directly.
- Records of subscription events that RevenueCat sent us, with your account ID removed (the event type, times and outcome stay for our financial records).
- Copies you already sent to a friend through a friend request, and your display name on those copies and on requests in their account.
- A referral that already counted toward a friend's free month, with your identity removed.
- Data in backups until the backups expire, as described above.
- Apple keeps its own records of your App Store purchases, under Apple's privacy policy.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in iOS Settings, your name, Subscriptions, before or after deleting.
Exporting your data
In Toolbox, Settings, Account, "Export my data (JSON)" produces a file containing your profile and settings, courses, schedule, recordings list, transcripts with word timings, notes, syllabi, assessments, changes heard in class, deadlines, cue cards and your study history, Tutor conversations, calendar copies, course shares, people you blocked, consent records, usage, referral records and friend requests. Your audio is included as download links that work for 7 days: anyone you give the file to can download your audio until those links expire, so share it with care. If you want something that is not in the export, email us.
AI accuracy: Typanotes can make mistakes
Transcripts, notes, summaries, exam flags, deadlines, syllabus summaries, changes heard in class, cue cards and Tutor answers are produced automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Speech recognition mishears words, and an AI model can misunderstand or invent details. They are study aids, never a substitute for your syllabus, your course website or what your instructor tells you. When the app hears a possible change to a due date, weight or assessment, it shows it as a proposal with the quote and does not change your schedule until you accept it. Always check dates and requirements with your instructor.
Your privacy rights
Under PIPEDA and, where they apply, provincial laws such as Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice (withdrawing consent to AI processing turns off the features that depend on it);
- receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format;
- ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations; and
- complain about how we handle your information.
Many of these you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days. If we cannot resolve your concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, if you live in Quebec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
We do not make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. The AI features produce study material for you; they do not decide anything about you.
Notice to California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do neither); to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
In the last 12 months we have collected these categories, for the purposes described in this policy, and disclosed them only to the service providers listed above: identifiers (name, email address, account IDs, a hashed device identifier); commercial information (subscription and purchase records); audio information (lecture recordings); internet or other electronic network activity (IP address and request logs); education-related content you create (transcripts, notes, syllabi, schedule); and inferences in the form of AI-generated study notes. We keep each category for the periods in "How long we keep your data". To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. You may make a request up to twice in 12 months, and an authorized agent may make it for you.
Tracking, analytics and cookies
The Typanotes app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting software, and does not show ads. It does not use web cookies. The typalock.com/typanotes website is a static site that sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Minimum age
Typanotes is for students at university, college and similar institutions. You must be at least 16 years old to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that your parent or guardian has agreed to your use where the law requires that. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Business transfers
If Lokd Technologies Ltd. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of its business, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, and always before we start sending your data to a new AI provider or using it in a new way, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent again.
